I had just become a mother and was learning to live my new life when everything changed. My health took a drastic turn, and I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was unbearable—I couldn’t even lift my own baby. The thought of depending on medicines for life scared me. Deep down, I knew there had to be another way.
“Yes, Priyanka! I have seen all your reports, and you are positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).”
Hearing these words from my doctor, I felt shattered. “Why is this happening to me? I have always been healthy. I have a seven-month-old baby to take care of, and I can’t even hold him properly.”
The doctor explained, “Sometimes, arthritis gets triggered after delivery. I will put you on medicines, and let’s see how you respond. You won’t see any improvement for at least three months, and side effects like nausea, dizziness, and palpitations are common. Also, you will need to take these medicines for life.”
“And what are the benefits?” I asked.
“The arthritis will stop progressing,” she said.
That’s it? No cure? No promise of a better life—just that it wouldn’t get worse?
I walked out of the clinic with a bag full of medicines but felt uneasy. That night, as I sat with the medicines in my hand, something inside me said, “This isn’t the way.” I had always believed in the body’s ability to heal when given the right environment. Suppressing symptoms didn’t make sense to me. Instead of taking the medicines, I placed them back on the table and decided to listen to my body.
I took a step back and reflected on my life over the past few months. My baby had been born prematurely at 7.5 months and was in the hospital for 11 days due to low birth weight. I barely slept for the first four months, constantly worrying and taking care of him. My health had taken a backseat, and now my body was showing the consequences.
It was clear—I had to make some serious changes.
I started making small but powerful shifts in my daily routine:
Within just three months, everything changed. The pain, the inflammation, the swelling—it was all gone. My wrist bones, which had started deforming, were back to normal. And as an added bonus, I lost 20 kg!
This journey taught me that our body is incredibly intelligent—it knows how to heal when we allow it to. I didn’t need medicines to suppress my symptoms. I just needed to listen to my body, give it the right nourishment, and let it do what it was designed to do—heal.
Today, I live a pain-free, fearless life. I continue my health journey with more conviction than ever before, and I share my experience so that others can see that healing is possible. Your body knows what to do—you just have to trust it.
